About Pastor Chuck
Clyde H. DeShong III (Pastor Chuck) was born June 14, 1955 in Fulton County, Pennsylvania. His faith was nurtured in the Asbury Methodist Church, Harrisonville. Accepted the call to ministry at a camp meeting revival , 1972; Graduated from Central Fulton High School, 1973; Received a BA from Eastern College, St. Davids, 1977; Married Raneeta Bard (RN), 1977; Received M Div. from Eastern Baptist Seminary, Philadelphia, 1980. During his seminary education, he served as resident assistant to the pastor at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Bryn Mawr. Ordained Elder in 1981, he has served Liberty Charge (1980-1986), Witmer’s Charge, Port Trevorton (1986-1999), Calvary, Fayetteville(1999-Present).
Chuck and Raneeta have three children: Elizabeth (husband, Ryan Albrecht) of Akron, Ohio; Winton (engaged to Ann Sassaman) of Hershey, PA. and Colin (completing BS degree from home).
Raneeta is employed full time at Lutheran Hospice Services and PRN at Menno Haven Retirement Communities both of Chambersburg.
Throughout his years of service, Pastor Chuck has conducted his ministry in a joyful, loving, accessible way. He often incorporates his love of the arts in various aspects of church programming.
